State Pension 'Needs To Match Inflation
Friday, 26 September, 2008
The government has been called upon to ensure that the basic state pension is in line with average salaries or inflation, depending upon which is higher.
In news that may be of interest to older people seeking unsecured loans, a spokesperson for the charity Age Concern said it wanted officials and MPs to reinstate the link between pensions earnings "as soon as possible".
She added: "As rocketing living costs take their toll on millions of pensioners, it's clear that current measures to help older people are falling pitifully short of the mark."
Meanwhile, those on the hunt for unsecured loans may also be interested to hear that the Liberal Democrats have become the latest party to call for such action.
The party also requested the end of mass means-testing of pensioners, so that every working adult will receive the full benefit of any additional provision that they make for themselves.
